“Adults are only kids grown up.” - Walt Disney
As a child, I dreamt of a magical Walt Disney World vacation just like any other kid. Who wouldn’t?!? Sitting on the couch munching on cereal, milk dripping down my chin and watching commercials of Dumbo soaring through Fantasy Land, of Donald Duck riding on a carousel, and of Mickey Mouse waving at you from atop Cinderella’s castle. But, alas, for whatever reason a childhood Disney vacation wasn’t in the cards for me.
Fast forward to 18 year old, freshly graduated High School Melanie in the year 2002. Sitting on a plane in Cleveland Hopkins International Airport… her first EVER flight. Tearing up the first time the plane banked to the left. ‘Is it supposed to tilt like that?!?! WE’RE GOING DOWN! I guess I will never see Walt Disney World!’ Landing, much to her dismay, SAFELY at MCO and being greeted by her then boyfriend (now husband!) who was attending college just outside of Orlando. He gives her a warm hug. He was making warm hugs cool long before Olaf was even a twinkle in Elsa’s eye.
“My friend has a connection and we got tickets to Disney!” he says. “MARRY ME NOW!” She says! And they lived happily ever after. Well, it didn’t go down exactly like that… but visiting the most magical place on earth for the first time with who would become my lifelong Prince Charming was enough to make me want to go back time and time again.
Enter freshly married life and the lack of funds that come with it. We spent many years building a life together which included three beautiful children. We wouldn’t return to Walt Disney World until 2013. And then I was hooked yet again, but this time with the overwhelming joy that comes from viewing the magic through the eyes of your own children.
Well, spoiler alert: The Novak family has now been to Walt Disney World several times! So many, I lose count. I personally have been about 20 times and counting! Now I’m here to use my expertise to help make the magic happen for YOU and yours. So that one day when your child is eating cereal and gazing wide eyed at up a screen full of fireworks gently cascading over Cinderella’s castle, you can walk up to them and say: “Let’s go meet Mickey”
